I’m Thankful For…

Every year I write this post and every year it is the most popular post of the year. In these trying times, we take fewer things for granted. I know I do. Here is my list of things I am thankful for. It just scratches the surface. Please feel free to add your own thoughts to this Thanksgiving post.

I am thankful for…

  • My job. Many people are out of work and I hope they find work soon.
  • My friends. You know who you are. I cherish you all.
  • Barkley partners. Talented. Passionate. Smart. Just for starters.
  • My family. I am blessed.
  • Thin Mints. Followed by Thanks-A-Lot.
  • Creativity. My right brain works better than my left-brain.
  • Our clients. Times may be tough, but our clients still trust us with their business.
  • Running. Sometimes it’s mindless. Sometimes it’s life-changing.
  • Apples. Every variety deserves a shout out. Something healthy I actually like.
  • The Barkley building. I’m still in awe of this place.
  • Coors Light. When the bottle is blue, it’s cold enough to drink. Brilliant.
  • Ping-pong. I turn into a kid when I play. I love it so.
  • Michael Smith’s Extra Virgin. He’s not afraid to try something different.
  • Kansas City. No mountains or beaches but it’s an incredible place to live.
  • College basketball. The Final Four remains my favorite sporting event.
  • Jeremy Fuksa. I thought you were great. Turns out you are even better.
  • Joyce Schmidt. Unsung hero.
  • Pete and TJ. They’ve bailed us out with their genius on a few occasions.
  • Kelly Lamb Francis for helping me with apps and stuff.
  • Nick Villa. If there’s a nicer guy in the building, I’ve not met him.
  • The Creative Department. You make me look good.
  • Eggs. So good, so versatile.
  • Every department that is not the Creative Department. I am in awe of the things I cannot do; the things you do so beautifully.
  • Trees. I don’t want to live in a world without trees.
  • Phillip Seymour Hoffman. The one actor who is equally adept at comedy and drama.
  • JC Dresslaer. You will do whatever it takes and I am forever thankful.
  • In-laws. We may not agree on politics, but you love my kids and that’s enough for me.
  • Frank. You taught me so much in the game of pong and life.
  • Bob Dylan. Where does it come from?
  • Bruce Lee. Still inspiring me 37 years after his death.

I could go on and on. I’ll stop here. Please post some things you are thankful for.

Friends and family. Without them, what's the point?
Wednesday night dinners with my mom.
    24 hour trips to Vegas
Rogging - that's my combination of running and jogging and it's what I do. Helps me to think of nothing but the song on my ipod.
My children who make me laugh at myself everyday.
Friends that understand my special eating quirks and don't let it bother them.
My husband who supports me in whatever I do.
Hairbands that still have the courage to tour.
Our pathetic 50 pound mutt that thinks he's a lapdog.
The years I got to spend with my father.
Mr. Pibb back in the fountain at work!
An amazing group of people to work with every day.
Quiet nights with a good book.
  • Thanks go to:

    * The look of bewilderment that my son has started showing over the past few days. He's seeing the world in new ways and REALLY trying to get stuff figured out.
    * My wonderful wife who may not always understand why the things I think are important or interesting are, but supports my interest and attention all the same.
    * Cardiologists. If not for them almost three years ago, I might not be here to be thankful.
    * Creativity. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have a job (or a real marketable skill) nor would I have fodder for blogging, speaking, or pretty much anything I do during my waking moments. Without you, I'd be screwed.
    * Brian for thanking me in his thanksgiving list. This thanks completes a circle that creates an orobouros of admiration. That's a good thing.
    * There's some other stuff that I'm sure needs to go here, but I can't quite think of them at the moment.
